Therapeutic shock waves were introduced as a medical treatment for eliminating kidney stones without causing skin injury over 20 years ago. Today the use of radial shock waves or radial pressure waves (RPW) has been successfully extended to other therapeutic and wellness applications such as the treatment of various muscle and tendon injuries, dissolving calcifications, activation of muscle and connective tissue, cellulite treatment, medical massage and lymphatic drainage.
Radial pressure waves offer a non-invasive treatment solution for conditions that are normally very difficult to treat. Local treatment of the affected area will enhance and reset the healing pattern while reducing pain and improving function.
Most conditions require a number of treatments spaced several days apart to allow your body to do its natural healing between sessions.
However, unlike many other forms of therapy, with Shockwave therapy you will usually notice immediate results. These often include a significant reduction in pain, improved mobility, normalized muscle tone and previously noticeable knots or tightness will have become relaxed.
RPW Shockwave Therapy has been used in the successful treatment of the following ailments
- Plantar Fasciitis (heel spurs)
- Patellar tendonitis
- Tennis elbow
- Frozen shoulder
- Rotator cuff tendonitis
- Achilles tendonitis and ankle injuries
- Shin splints
